Modern Sporting Rifle I: Introduction to Marksmanship and Fundamentals

 

The firearms community continues to grow every day. Many new shooters have purchased Modern Sporting Rifles (MSR) consisting of AR, Mini-14, AK and other semiautomatic platforms. A basic understanding in firearms operation and marksmanship is essential to safely enjoying the shooting sports for those purchasing their first long gun. This course will cover these topics:

• Rules of Firearms Safety and Range Etiquette

• Understanding Basic Operation 

• Basic Disassembly/ Field Strip and Cleaning Overview

• How to achieve a proper zero with Iron Sights and Optical sights 

• Basic ballistics and how that correlates to distance

• Proper shooting positions (Standing, Kneeling, Prone)

What to expect:

 

A new Shooter should expect to gain a better understanding in basic firearms operation, safety, and marksmanship. This is a not a Defensive Rifle Course. The student will leave feeling more comfortable and competent with safe firearms handling and will possess the skills to accurately hit their target.

• Modern Sporting Rifle: All platforms are welcome such as AR/ M4 Pattern, AK, Mini-14, Mini-30, SCR Rifle, M1A, SKS, etc.

• Sling for your modern sporting rifle

• 100 rounds of ammunition

• 3 spare magazines if your firearm is capable of accepting detachable magazines

• Basic Firearms Cleaning kit with quality gun lubrication

• Ballistic Eye Protection and Hearing Protection (Electronic Preferred)
